Fassaroe Rezoning Refusal
30th November 2017

The Bord Pleanala refusal of permission for the first phase of the Fassaroe development is not a surprise.

The reasons given, including lack of public transport infrastructure, N11 congestion and the ongoing closing off of old dumps on the site mean that the plans will be put on hold indefinitely.

This news is disappointing but it gives Councillors time and space to ensure that the proposed rezoning of the entire 400 acres is done properly. I strongly believe we have one chance to ensure that we maximise the community benefit on this land by providing for plenty of open space and community and recreational facilities for present and future needs.

While this work is being done it is also essential that immediate Government investment in public transport and roads infrastructure in the N11/ M11 road corridor is delivered. I call on our TDs to work together to secure the investment needed to address these deficits as a matter of urgency.
