Levies Should Be Used
8th March 2017

I believe that some of the €7 million of unspent levies for Bray could be used to improve the roads and footpaths in our housing estates.

The scheme adopted by the Members of Bray Town Council in 2013 included an item entitled... “Strengthening and Improvements to footpaths and roads.” This clearly allows flexibility to decide which roads need to be strengthened and improved. All roads in housing estates which have been taken in charge are public roads and as such qualify for this expenditure.

I am calling on the Town Manager to accept my proposal and begin work immediately to improve and strengthen the roads in Sugar Loaf Crescent, Mountainview Drive, Seacrest, Glenwood, Charnwood and Herbert Park. These estates have been left in a disgraceful condition by the Council and should be prioritised now.

It is regrettable that the Council continues to drag its heels in this matter but I will continue to advocate that this money can and should be used to improve the residential amenity of the people we represent.
